RIVERDALE BASEBALL PLAYS WITH CLASS

What exactly is class?  It's one of those valuable, "intangible", personal traits that's in high demand because it's so rare.   Most people, unfortunately, do not have it.  Class is being a good person, showing good sportsmanship, always taking responsibility for the consequences of your actions and being considerate to others.  You have class if you show pride, have humility and poise, and display self-confidence without being arrogant.

Class athletes handle victory and defeat in the same way - graciously, with heads held high.  They don't brag in victory, or make excuses in defeat.  They accept the thrill of victory and agony of defeat in stride.  They always praise their opponent for a job well done, and they admit their mistakes.

Class always shows, whether you win or lose.  People can tell instantly if you have class by watching you perform and interact with others.  If you have class, you don't need much of anything else to be a winner.  If you don't have it, whatever else you have won't make up the difference.

Fame, fortune, trophies and glory are all fine, but they alone won't give you class.  Only you can give yourself class.

It has been said that "Champions Do Consistently What Others Do Occasionally."

*Consistently winning - 23 straight years with 20 or more wins.
*Consistently getting players to college .
*Consistently getting Pre-Season and Post-Season honors - All County and All Met, Team Maryland selections, as well as Camden Yards All Star game selections.
*Consistently traveling home and abroad - Dominican good will missions trip '05, Hawaii & Florida '06, Florida and S Carolina '07.

The Crusaders have been fortunate to play games all over the U.S. including Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.  While visiting the Dominican in '05 the players were able to visit orphanages, donating equipment and Bibles, as well as sharing their testimony in between games.  Participating in tournaments in Arizona, California, Florida, Texas, Virginia, Washington D.C., as well as Abner Doubleday stadium in Cooperstown, NY.

Exposure resulting in 16 Riverdale players signing professional contracts in addition to the scores of kids moving on to college.

Thanks to all the players, coaches, parents, and fans that have set the example for all the future kids that will one day play Riverdale baseball!  A special thanks to all the players past and present for 800 wins!  You earned them!  It goes without saying, the Riverdale baseball program has been truly blessed!
